A graveside service celebrating the life of Miriam E. Grubaugh, 102, of Newark, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1, at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Miriam passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Altercare in Thornville, Ohio. She was born August 13, 1917 in Thurston, Ohio to the late George and Jennybell (Mohler) Hitt.
Miriam along with her husband owned and operated the Salt Box Antique Store in Linnville, Ohio during the 1970’s and 80’s. She was a former member of Altrusa International, Inc., The American Business Women’s Association and the Hebron Historical Society. Miriam always enjoyed meeting friends and customers at various antique shows and auctions.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Marla Duncan of Lancaster and Phillip (Ruby) Morgan of Newark; four great-grandchildren, Michael Morgan, Stewart Morgan, Kylie Conley and Tara Duncan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Grubaugh (1978); a daughter, Miriam Jean Morgan; and a grandson, Michael Morgan.
The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark is assisting the Grubaugh family.
She was a very special woman and I am very blessed to hav known her. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Prayers to the family.
No matter the person or the time ever encounter she had she wore with an infectious smile that would light up the room. In few words she was always kind and happy and all of us here feel her loss
