A funeral service celebrating the life of O. Dean Topping, age 79, of Newark, will be held at 7p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Mark Fowler, presiding.
Dean passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Arlington Care Center.
He was born June 18, 1939 to the late Don and Frances (McKinney) Topping.
Dean attended Gahanna High School and became a heavy equipment operator serving the City of Columbus before moving to the countryside of Mary Ann Township. He continued his work as an operator for various employers, while raising a family with his beloved wife, Donna M. (Baker) Topping, whom he married on March 21, 1960. Raising five children he provided for his family and they were most important to him. Dean was quick-witted and a great story teller. He could always bring a smile to your face.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; four daughters, Michelle Morgan, Rene Sole, Andrea (Mark) Fowler, Melanie (Travis) Nethers; son, Anthony Topping; and thirteen grandchildren. As well as eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Jerry (Marna) Topping; two sisters, Nora Jean (Howard) Van Deest and Kay Griffith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Wengert and an infant brother, Don.
Family and friends may call from 4-7pm on Friday, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth Street, Newark.
