A memorial service celebrating the life of Wesley E. “Brad” Bradford, age 86, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens, where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military honors at graveside.
Brad passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 7,1933 in Lima, Ohio to the late Vernon and Gertrude (Kennedy) Bradford.
He proudly represented his country by serving in the United States Air Force (1956-60) and the Ohio National Guard. He was a machinist retiring from Owens Corning Fiberglas after 38 years. Brad retired a second time as a driver for the Licking County Aging Program after 15 years.
Brad was a very passionate fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes watching all of their games. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for any driver who raced a Ford. One of his favorite drivers was Mark Martin.
Spending time with his family was everything to Brad. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brad was also a wheat penny collector, collecting more than 1500 pennies.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa A. (Michael) Moore of Granville; life long companion Patricia Rinker of Newark; a sister, Anna Lou “Cookie” Pasco of Newark; three grandchildren, Brooke Byers of Newark, Terren Moore of Granville and Anthony “Tony” Byers, Jr of Granville; three great-grandchildren, Bentley Byers, Aubrianna Crisp and Barrett Crisp of Newark; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Guthrie; three brothers, John “Jack” Bradford, Donald Bradford and Chester Howard, Jr.
Family and friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wesley, to Interim HealthCare, 900 Sharon Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
