A funeral service celebrating the life of Alice Mae Kidwell, age 82, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark with Pastor Mark Dymek officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Alice passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala, Ohio. She was born July 21, 1937 in Newark, Ohio to the late Jason Sr. and Daisy (Andrews) Grigsby.
Alice deeply loved her family, especially the times spent with her grandchildren. Throughout her life she held a strong Christian faith, often making detailed notes in her Bible as she read and prayed for her family. She loved to crochet and cook, creating many delicious dishes for her family. A few of her specialties included pineapple upside down cake, hacked apple pie, homemade noodles and her turkey stuffing. Alice will be remembered as a kind and caring woman, who always placed others first, before herself.
She is survived by three sons, Carl D. (Cindy) Kidwell, Jr., Bruce E. (Theresa) Kidwell and Steven H. (Ronda) Kidwell; a daughter, Rena M. (Dennis) Williams; a brother, Arthur Grigsby, Sr.; a sister, Betty Stemm; several nieces and nephews; twelve grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Kidwell, Kierstin (Nick) Kipreos, Kaitlin (Taylor) Smith, Kelsey Kidwell, Kara Kidwell, Alisha Williams, Shawna (Adam) Dale, Brittany (Nick) Williams, Steven (Brandi) Kidwell, Courtney Kidwell, Angela (Willie) Price and David (Barbara) Kidwell; ten great-grandchildren, Arlo Dale, Briella Kidwell, Bristol Kidwell, Keagan Williams, Grant Williams, Logan Hissong, Levi Hissong, Matthew Kidwell, Jackson Kidwell and Hailey Kidwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Carl D. Kidwell, Sr.; four sisters, Edith Toothman, Bertha Stalling, Anne Updike and Sandra Grigsby; and three brothers, Jason Grigsby Jr., Walter Grigsby and Paul Grigsby.
Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service on Saturday, September 21, (from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s name to The Licking County Aging Program,1058 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
