A memorial service celebrating the life of Grace M. (Carpenter) Barsotti, age 92, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 3 p.m. at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Chaplain Mark Pierce officiating.
Grace passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Middleton Senior Living in Granville. She was born in New York City to the late Leonard and Grace (Encinosa) Carpenter.
Grace loved her five children, nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She was always there for all of them, and also made herself available to anyone else that needed her.
She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her amazing lasagna. Grace was also an artist. She loved painting and created lots of beautiful craft items she would donate to Blessed Sacrament School and The Pime Seminary for their auctions and Christmas bazaars, helping them raise money for needed supplies. She loved flowers and enjoyed tending her beautiful garden. Grace was also a dog lover and owned many adorable Yorkies and other furry friends her children would bring home over the years.
Grace was a licensed beautician and owned her own salon in New York when she was young. She worked styling hair at Licking Memorial Hospital for years, and several area nursing homes. She also cared for many elderly women at their homes, doing their hair, shopping and taking them to appointments.
Her soft kind-hearted nature will surely be missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Grace suffered from dementia the last few years of her life, but she continued to share her warm captivating smile with everyone.
She is survived by her five children, Michael Barsotti of Newark, Deborah (Christian Thornton) Diebold of Newark, Grace Mary (Douglas) Ayers of Newark, Anthony (LuAnn) Barsotti of Ocala, Florida and Robert (Cheryl) Barsotti of Newark; eight grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Anthony “Tony” Barsotti, Sr. (2012); and a grandson, Anthony Barsotti Jr.
Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service (from 2-3 p.m.) on Thursday, August 22 at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.

Grace was like at second mother to me.She was an amazing cook and had more patience than anyone I know. I have fond memories of sharing coffee with her in the mornings in the little breakfast nook along with little bits of wisdom she would share. Rest in peace dear one.
