A funeral service celebrating the life of Dennis James Phillips, Sr., age 63, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
Dennis passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on September 12, 1955 in Jacksonville, Ohio to the late Jack Dempsey and Betty Jean (Gwylim) Phillips.
Dennis deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a mechanic by trade and enjoyed working and riding on motorcycles. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle to Nashville, Tennessee. His sense of humor will be missed by those who knew him best.
He is survived by his loving wife, his best friend of twenty-five years, Nancy L. Phillips, whom he married on February 10, 1996; three sons, Dennis J. Philips Jr., Michael Shane Thundercloud and Joey (Sabrina) Malgolm; four daughters, Karena D. Curry, Sandy L. (John) Derringer, Donna L. (Marty) Anderson and Vicky Lemay; three brothers, Robert L. Phillips, Donald R. (Tammy) Crane, Gary Phillips; a sister, Lora Handley; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral Home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
