A funeral service celebrating the life of Charles H. “Charlie” Kindred, age 72, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark with Pastor Delmar Jervis officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Charlie passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born February 17, 1947 in Newark, Ohio to the late Ernest and Frances (Shoemen) Kindred.
Charlie loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He also enjoyed building race cars and was a uniquely talented carpenter creating many one of kind wood projects for his family and friends.
He was active in all playing all types of sports. A few of his favorites were, softball, basketball, baseball, shooting pool, playing cards and bowling. Charlie also enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, always pulling for his favorite driver to win, #24 Jeff Gordon.
For those who knew Charlie best, understood he was very, very honest and always did his best. He was also a member of the Newark Druids.
He is survived by his significant other of twenty-four years, Carolyn “Jean” Dobbins; a son, Charles M. “Matt” Kindred; three daughters, Charlina M. (Barry) Henderson, Lydia M. (Carl, Jr.) Shaw and Crystal Lynn Kindred; a brother, Ernest Lee Kindred; a sister, Kathy Kindred; son of Jean Dobbins, Tony Gordon; fourteen grandchildren, Kaylyn, Dillon, Ethan, Dae'za, Alexis, Shayla, Mila, Mekhi, Jordinn, Kyla, Nevaeh, Colton, Haydyn, Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Charli Grace, William and Levi; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Kindred; and a sister, Faye Ann Spurlock.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.

Charlie, Lee and my brother, Wayne Fleming were friends and hung out together in Marne. Prayers for his family.
