Benjamin R. “Benny” Keeran, age 85, of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born February 20, 1933 in Johnstown, Ohio.
Ben was a very kind and caring man who was always there to help others in their time of need. He worked for Dry Creek Gravel for 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. Ben proudly represented his country by serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy R. (Mary Kinney) Keeran of Newark and Billy E. Keeran of Mississippi; two daughters, Patricia K. (Donald) Mills of Newark and Cheryl Sheese; stepchildren, Lemmie Franklin, Marie Haynes and Robert Harmon; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Keeran (1994); and three brothers, Harvey Keeran, Harry Keeran and Willard Keeran; two sisters, Ella Caldwell and Lena Clayton; stepsons, Ralph Harmon, Leonard Harmon.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Brushy Fork Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.
The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street is assisting the Keeran family with arrangements.
