Obituary
A funeral service for Paul H. McPeek, age 58, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Ed Lopeman officiating.

Paul passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born July 1, 1954 in Newark, Ohio.

A 1972 graduate of Newark High School, Paul had been an insurance adjuster with the Erie Insurance Group for the past twenty years. He was formerly employed by Jim Grady Pontiac, owned McPeek's Body Shop for many years and had also been employed with Ervin Auto Body.

Paul enjoyed home renovation, being outdoors and working with his hands. An avid classic car enthusiast, Paul loved restoring classic automobiles and was an accomplished car painter. His dream project was the restoration of a Studebaker Golden Hawk.

Paul spent his life living to help others. He will be remembered as always going out of his way to help anyone in need and he was there to help wherever and whenever he was needed. True to his caring nature, Paul gave the gifts of life and hope to others as an organ and tissue donor through Lifeline of Ohio.

A loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, he will be missed by his bride of 39 years, Sue McPeek; two amazing children and their spouses, Erik and Kristen McPeek of Delaware and Alexis and Jeff Mollica of Blaine, Minnesota; his mother, JoAnn (Bell) McPeek of Newark; two brothers, James McPeek of Xenia and Brady (Tracey) McPeek of Heath; two sisters, Joyce (Kevin) Lennon of Newark and Bonnie (Rick) Kitzman of Roanoke, Texas; many nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Galen and Joann Gault of Utica; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Ruth Gault of Reno, Nevada, Dennis and Cathy Gault of Miamisburg, Roger and Carol Gault of Reston, Virginia, Doug and Rhonda Gault of Saint Louisville and Brenda and Doug Daley of Lima; and lifelong friends, Jack and Debby Pryor of Newark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ross E. McPeek, on February 16, 2011.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, and are invited to attend the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of Central Ohio, 471 East Broad St., Suite 1630, Columbus, OH 43215.

Dear family,
Though it has been many years since we have seen Paul or any you we still very surprised and saddened to learn of his passing. We first met Paul (and family) through our sons' (Erik and Zack) participation in the Boy Scouts at St. Francis. Our son, Zack, had just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and Paul was able to provide some reassurance and support to us and Zack which we were, and are still, greatful for. Our sons recieved their Eagle Scout Honors together which will always remain cherished in our memories though not long after that our sons went off to college and entered their adult lives. That's when our paths separated but we will always appreciate Pauls kindness, cheerfulness and good council.
May God comfort all of you in your sadness.

My deepest sympathy to Paul's family. Paul and I went through Central and Newark High together and it was just a joy to see him at the reunion earlier this month. Paul always had that big smile and such kind words to share. We will miss him dearly.

Sue, Erik, Alexis,
I will surely miss our conversations while cutting his hair. He was always quick with the photos of family and their events, he was surely proud of his children.
We had fun talking about the day we were both born, July 1st,1954, at the old hospital on Everett Ave. He was a great room mate in the nursery! And he was a great guy, will be sadly missed by all.

My heartfelt condolences to all of Paul's family and friends.

I grew up with Paul on South Pine Street, going to Mound, Central, and high school together. When we were young there were a million kids on the street getting into Mrs. McPeek's rhubarb and Paul was always doing something; he would build a ramp for bikes or hook up some electrical something-or-other or start digging into the Wright earthworks. When he got older it was cars or his motorcycle; we went on one or two non-parental-commissioned bike rides with Paul issuing the instruction that he would do all of the leaning necessary. Paul often looked out for me growing up and I have only warm memories of him.

I hope that all who obviously loved him so much will comfort each other.

Isaiah 57:1-2
Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.
1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

May God Bless you , and heal your hearts, he will always be with us:)

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face
and the rain fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

Bob and Carole Koontz

May God comfort you all in the days ahead. We know that Paul will be greatly missed, but his love for you will live on in your hearts forever.

Paul was my first male cheerleader when I was the advisor back at Newark High School. He did an outstanding job and could really get the students to respond to him.
I have seen him over the years and we always had to laugh as we talked about those days. He was a great person.
So sorry for your loss.

If only we would stay close over the years but our lives seem to take different paths sometimes leading us farther away. It was great seeing and talking with Paul at our 40th reunion. He was a good man with a good heart. May God forever take care of him and his family.

Sue, like these things often do the memories of Paul just start flowing in. I have so many
good ones. He was always building, fixing and smiling and helping and he helped me so many times without thinking about it or even waiting for a thank you. I was so sorry to hear the news of this way to early passing of Paul. Please know my heart is with you, Erik and Lexi, all the Gaults and McPeeks in what I am sure is a loss my words can not ease.
May God bless Paul and you and the kids.
