Mr. Meister passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born November 27, 1931 in Albany, NY to the late Emil and Theresa (Decker) Meister.
Bob grew up in Albany, NY where he met the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Maureen Hunter. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1961. He later earned a Masters of Business Administration degree at the University of Dayton.
Bob worked for Battelle Memorial Institute until his retirement. He and Maureen raised their six children in Columbus where they were founding members of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Bob and Maureen moved to Newark after their children were grown to enjoy a slower pace. They were members of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Bob was very active in his condo association and was a past member of the Newark Maennerchor. He loved puzzles, cards, sing-alongs and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time with family and friends. His dear wife preceded him in death and guided him home. He is survived by his sons, Robert, Jr. (Becky) of Hanover, John (Anna) of Columbus and Bill (Kelly) of Terre Haute, IN.; daughters, Betsy (Dave) Turner of Reynoldsburg, Karen (John) Cornellier of Novi, MI, and Natalie (Mark) Johns of Heath; and grandchildren, Kyle, Eric, Ben, Nicholas, Dylan, Jim, Nathan, Audra, Emily, Claire and Ryan; brothers, Emil, Albert (Marge) and Joseph, all of Albany, NY; sister, Rosemary of Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Dear Meister family. Maurie and I were first cousins. Maurie, Bob and family visited us in Canada when all you kids were young. You had a trailer that you stayed in. Your dad was a great guy and one thing I remember about him and your mom is how devoted they wer and so in olove. You were lucky to have them both. God Bless.

Dear Meister Family,
Barbara & I offer our condolances for the loss of your Dad. From the early 1960's, your Dad & I were linked together through our common interest in Welding Engineering. He was technically very informed and thru the years he shared much of his expertise with me and others in our field. I will miss him but my fond memories will never let me forget him.

To My Cousins,
I am an Ohio State Buckeye fan because at age 6 Bobby and your family moved to Columbus. The only reason I became a Buckeye fan was because, next to my brother Billy, I was closer to no one than Bobby. I did not see Betsy from the time you moved to Columbus until 2004 when RJ and I came to the Ohio State -Michigan game. She was just as pretty as I remember her.
Your wonderful family is a tribute to both your parents and we are confident that your family traditions, loving closeness and faith will thrive.
Love, Jimmy, Carol, RJ, Jeff, Carolyn and Hunter
