A funeral service for Mabel C. (Stotts) Laisure, age 89, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Gene Walters officiating. Burial will take place in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Laisure passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Autumn Healthcare. She was born October 13, 1922 in Muskingum County, Ohio and was the last surviving child of the late Merle A. and E. Corrinna (Burrier) Stotts.
Mrs. Laisure loved to sew and cook and taught her family how to make her delicious chicken and noodles. She loved animals and was a devout servant of God.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Philip) Chesser of Newark and Anita R. (Carl) Lacy of Newark; step-daughter, June Hill of Alabama; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one niece and numerous nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar V. Laisure, on February 5, 2010; an infant son, Jerry Laisure; and four sisters, Pearl Gleckler, Mildred Stevens, Gladys Seigle and Mary Hoon.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Central Ohio and Autumn Healthcare for their wonderful care of Mabel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
