A very patriotic person, Mary Alice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hebron Historical Society and the Hetuck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by three sons, David Slater (Vivian) Dernberger of Hebron, Ralph Edwin "Buddy" (Judy) Dernberger of Alexandria and John Peter (Kimberly) Dernberger of Newark; daughter, Sara Ruth Dernberger of Newark; six grandchildren, David S. Dernberger II, Angela K. (Matt) Cornett, Hannah Thompson, Austin S. Dernberger, Lindsay A. Dernberger and Evan R. Mary Alice knew a lot about regional and family history. She used to let me know the information every time someone was born into our family so I could add it to our family history. Two of my children (Randy and Lynnae) and I really enjoyed our last visit with Mary Alice, and we all feel sad about her passing. We have a video of Mary Alice that I'm sure my daughter would share with you. I remember her many stories, in particular telling us details about the many chickens she prepared for sale and how her father built the area's first modern restroom. This side of the family is proud to have such good people as relatives. Please keep in touch and let me know how you all are doing. We hope to visit Ohio again sometime. We are really sorry about the loss of our family member. She was a great person as I'm sure you are aware.

To the whole family, Knowing each of you I understand your faith will get you through this. Knowing your Mom I also know her faith allowed you to know your faith and practice it in your daily lives. What a wonderful lady. We will all be out of town and will not be able to attend calling hours and the funeral. Please know my prayers go out to you and many thoughts and great memories will help each of you. Take care everyone.

It was such a pleasure having the Dernbergers as neighbors. I would come home from being gone for the day and she would leave flowers for me on my front porch. I will miss hearing her stories, exspecially about the stone in the front yard. You are all in our prayers.
