A celebration of the life of Vernon Phillips, Jr., age 64, of Buckeye Lake, will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the Millersport Lions Club house on the Sweetcorn Festival Grounds.

Mr. Phillips passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at his home. He was born October 25, 1947 in Maxie, Virginia to the late Vernon and Bertha (Owens) Phillips.

Vernon worked at the 70-37 Truck Stop for 33 years and Myers Transfer for five years.

He was married to and put up with Cheryl (Santee) Phillips for 41 years-364 days. In addition to his wife he, is also survived by four children, Kellie (Mike) Noble of Washington Courthouse, Kristi Lemert (Marc Kirby) of Hebron, Kevin (Natasha) Phillips of Bentley Kansas and Kammi Wiley of Buckeye Lake; grandchildren, Brett (Liz) Phillips, Brittany (Rob Collins) Lemert, Tyler Lemert, Dustin Lemert, Jessica Wiley, Allen Hayes, Adam Hayes, Kaden Noble, Abigail Noble and Makayla Noble; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta (Earl) Pittman of Heath, Susie Harding of Hebron and Nancy (Jack) Selak of Newark; brother, David (Kathy) Phillips of Pataskala;
brothers-in-law, Craig (Charlene) Santee and David Santee, all of Newark; and many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Bill and Jim Phillips; and a sister, Katie Motts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Phillips family. I worked with Junior for 11 years at the 70 - 37 truck stop. He was a hard working great guy. He will be missed dearly.
