A lovely memorial service was held in your honor today. I think it would have made you happy. Little children playing on the playground, burgers on the grill, and sweet music filling the air and people holding each other up, smiling through their tears. I know you would have been proud of your family and friends who tried to fulfill your last wishes as a lasting testament of their love and respect for you.
I could feel your presence floating in the cooling breeze that gently touched my face and lifted my hair to cool my neck. I could see you in your Mother's face and your sisters' tears...in the sobs and tear streaked faces of your friends who are even now asking "why"? You were so short lived on this earth but seemed such an "old soul". You will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew you, and loved you. Godspeed you on your way sweet Lacey.

You were so many things to so many people. The only words I can think of is I am heartbroken. I watched you grow up and grew up with you from the very start. I packed you around when you were little. I cannot believe the physical self of you is gone. I am trying to remember all the good and happy times we had. When you were a little Baby and we were on the long trip back home to the hills, I Snuck you chocolate along with Rita to keep you happy until Rosie was able to feed you. She was determined you were not going to have candy! You wanted fed right now; and it was a little ways before there was a spot so she could pull over and feed you. I remember it was love at first taste, and you wanted more. Rosie would ask " Are you girls giving her chocolate? We looked at each other and replyed nooooo, while you were sucking the chocolate off our fingers, and then you got some milk. (maybe a little chocolate milk?) It is my first funny memory Of you.I know your Dad was in heaven waiting to meet you when you arrived along with everyone who has ever loved you, just like there are so many left here to miss you.

We thought of you with love today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart..
