A funeral service for Richard Joseph Huffman, age 89, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Huffman died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home. He was born November 8, 1920 in Bremen, Ohio to the late Joseph L. and Hazel B. (Stewart) Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was a building contractor and finishing carpenter, building many area homes and businesses. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and faithfully served his country for over five years during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, M. Frances (Gilliam) Huffman; three children, James R. (Carolyn) Huffman of Grand Island, New York, Jay (Yolanda) Huffman of Newark and Gloria J. (Paul) Zawadzki of Surprise, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Julie Lynne (Mark) Deuble of Grand Island, New York, Alice E. (Stephen) Broad of Houston, Tex. and Jayne E. (Samuel) Lee of Newark; two great-grandchildren, Katrina Bryn Fritz and Charlotte Suzanne Broad; brother, William H. Huffman of Newark; sister, Norma J. (Frank) Clay of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the funeral home, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 732 Hebron Road, Heath.
